So we put up some recordings on youtube (White Widow and The Void) and a new version of Baal'Naagal is going to be put up soon (which will blow you away). Our recordings as full band for the first time in a year turned out phenomenal and as always, they are addicting.
On august 10th, we have a show at The House in Brentwood with Airs, Dare to Suck and Ambersmoke. Also we might be putting on a house show at Hunters place and possibly a date in L.A on august 16th.
Stay tuned for more exciting news.
^Possible shirt design? Album cover? Who knows.
Right now we have so much material floating around that we have to figure out a way to put it out. Releasing a full length and a follow up E.P to 'Cosmic Intervention' are in consideration.
After playing a few shows we truly realized how much of an entity this band has become; everything we do in Sleeping Sun feels completely natural, and the band has taken a life of its own.
Amidst the 15 minute epics of 'Acension' and the Doom badassery of 'Durins Tower', many flavors have been presented; but the song remains the same. (Zeppelin? yeah).
What is truly inspiring is that Sleeping Sun feels unlimited. We will never run out of ideas. The concepts involved, the story, the music; has a very endless feel. The music that you hear from us comes from the heart with passion and honesty 100%.
Bands and musicians should ask themselves: "What is this song conveying?" even look past the lyrics and titles, "What is the music and vibrations doing to the song?" For this, the music needs to be felt. It's all about the feeling. If you can't feel the emotion and attitude in a song then what is it really?
Just a little thought.
The Farland Fest was a success. Probably one of the best shows we have played in awhile. Before we went on there was a twacker fight, cops came during Hemotoxin's set because the kids pitting made it look like a massive brawl, I (Matt) sang "Killing In The Name" with Heap of Stone, and Refuge had such an intense circle pit that I got knocked in the gut and nearly yacked all the hotdogs and chips I ate that day. Fuck, that was so fun.
I really don't know what can top these outdoor free shows. It was just too much fun. Plus, Sonoma is one of the most twackiest places on earth next to Bakersfield. There is a really interesting vibe going on up there. I suspect that in the coming months, we'll start seeing some of the best and creative bands come out of that place. The east bay is failing in terms of music, no one wants to hear metalcore anymore.
So what did we play?
Well, we opened up with yet another rendition of "A Message of Error" then it cut right into "Kronos (Traitors Tomb)" which we haven't played live since 2010, we played a Baal'Naagal and jammed on it, then Shivanarranha and jammed on it, including the first part of "The Void", then we did a new version of Ascension with a full on jam, and then we ended on a new song that had vocals. We probably played for almost 2 hours. I'm sure by the time it was over the audience realized that they got high without smoking any weed.
So what's next? I guess it's something that has to do with the Void....
We are playing Farland Fest in Sonoma on April 14th. We go on at about 8, but show up for our buddies as well!
It's been awhile since we've played or have done anything. But that is about to change soon. I am in the works of getting Sleeping Sun to be part of some very badass events in the near future.
Also, our main email is fucked up. So for all inquiries reach us at email@example.com or our facebook page. Thanks!
At the Red House.... again. However we plan on making this as badass as possible and debuting all new material. Also playing is symphonic goblin metal act Nekrogoblikon from Santa Barbara, progressive death metallers Gemanon, and our friends in Hemotoxin and Castrated.
About blew my load when they announced a reunion and a NEW album. Holy shit. This is going to rule.
Hunter, Eric and I have decided that it is time to play some shows this winter; we are scheduled to play at The Red House sometime in december with Necrosin. We'll be debuting all new material as well.
(Also you can play the songs on the reverbnation widget which is in the 'Meditation' part of the site)
They are 3 new songs. Durins Tower, Kronos (i, Astral Eclipse, ii, Traitors Tomb, iii, Fall of Mankind) and a new version of White Widow. Enjoy.
New Site, New Album, and other oddities.
So I'm sitting here writing something everyone will just want to see on facebook, myspace, or some other social networking site. However, since we feel as though our information should be more artistically inclined, a new site needed to be made. We'll still get all the goodies from the old site and put them on here, but this new site will be more organized and thoughtful; as was intially planned.
Ok, so about the new album. We finished the intial recordings, and we are posting some vocal-less demos up on youtube for y'all to enjoy (just in time for the rapture on May 21st? Oh boy) and right now we have Kronos (with all parts) up right now. Depending on when we get the vocals done, it will be released sometime this summer; and if you wish to buy a CD, we will make it our mission to pack it full of cool shit; artwork, writing, and some other secret stuff.
No shows are currently planned, but news about that will be on the way.
Fuck shit up,
